I saw Mussel bound on an episode of This Old House. I have set plenty of tiles over the last 20 years and thought to give this a try. Watched a couple videos, read the directions and away I went. Started my first piece of mat in an easy area to apply to, got a feel for it, and from there out was a piece of cake. Half an hour later I was setting the backsplash. I made sure to press firmly once I had the tile exactly where I wanted it and was convinced they would never move. Immediately after that I applied the grout. Fast and Easy and I have never had a job with minimal clean up (nice to not have mastic all over the place) and out the door in the same afternoon! Will be using again.

I am a huge fan of Musclebound, as it greatly expedited the installation of the backsplash in my kitchen, as well as the tile in the bathtub surround of my guest bathroom. NO MESS! It sticks beautifully to sheetrock and cement backerboard and makes tile installation quick, painless, and foolproof. HOWEVER! It will not work on Schluter’s Kerdi Board (which I just learned the hard way). Carla from Musslebound’s customer support stepped in and very generously offered me a refund for those roles of Musselbound that would not stick to the Kerdi Board. Exemplary customer support, and an extraordinary product. There is nothing better for walls.

Highly recommend, 10 star for me! This is like the most awesome product for me as a woman and a first timer, I’m glad they made something like this you can work at your own pace, with no mess and no rushing! I would definitely will buy more for future projects.

Easiest way to put up tile without mortar. I had no problem with it not holding, like I did with another competitor’s product from Home Depot. It’s easy to work with, and does exactly what it is supposed to do, the first time. You won’t be disappointed.

READ THE DIRECTIONS. Can’t stress that enough. Musselbound is waterproof, which makes it a no-brainer for countertops and backsplash. The long roll is easy to put down in one continuous piece. I also bought a cheap $90 Skil wet saw for my project. I did a total of 5 countertops – one of them an L shape bar – over 3 days. Had never set tile before but I’m handy and determined so decided to go for it. The results are gorgeous. Definitely on an island top you need to carefully practice the layout because both edges are exposed – you don’t want it to look uneven. Product is expensive compared to thin set mortar but way cheaper than paying a professional to install the tile. Be sure to wipe the backs of the tiles and allow ample time for drying. Also – its worth attending the free tile classes at Lowe’s or their competitor before installing tile for the first time.

Used in install tile bathroom sink backslash. When I saw the product I thought no way, to good to be true. Talk to Lowe’s associate. She said she had used it and thought it was a great product. So I tried it, amazing. I do not think I would use it on floors or showers but for back splash it perfect. MAKE SURE the tile is exactly where you want it when comes into contact with the membrane. DO NOT try and shift the tile like you might in mortar. Once it in the Membrane push in place and hold for 5 seconds.

I am so glad we gave this a try! We used it for glass tile in our kitchen. The adhesive is super strong and seems like it’s gonna hold up well over time. The only downside was that once I placed a tile, it was very difficult to change placement. It immediately stuck. We’ll be using this in our bathroom next.

I was hesitant to use this product at first, but I REALLY hate the mortar stage of laying tile so decided to go for it. IT’S AWESOME! Just make sure you read all directions before you begin, and make sure your knife is new and you have extra blades in case they dull. Also, PRESS VERY HARD once you are sure the position of the tiles are correct. I did my kitchen and bathroom with this and am about to use it again on a new house.
